City of Hobart - Mathers House

Want to meet new people?
Like to learn something new?
Want to stay active and engaged in your community?
Mathers House is located in the city centre at 108 Bathurst Street, between LINC Tasmania (State Library) and the Playhouse Theatre, in Mathers Place.

The City of Hobart provides Mathers House as a community facility with a particular focus on providing Positive Ageing programs and activities for older people.

Its purpose is to provide:
• A warm, welcoming and safe environment.
• A wide range of social, recreational, cultural and education activities for the older people of Greater Hobart.

Pop in for snack, drink or a meal between 10am and 2pm each weekday. From midday each day, an affordable two or three course home-style meal is served.

Our diverse range of programs includes Mah-jong, Tai Chi, Zumba, Singing, Music, Art, Scrabble, Computer Lessons, Broadway Boogie, Craft, Ukulele, Book Club and Growing Wilder excursions. There are also regular social music afternoons, lectures and information sessions. Please let us know if there is something special you would like to learn or do!

Mathers House aims to support older people to live healthy happy lives in their community and to access the information they need when they need it. We understand that finding this information can sometimes be a challenge, especially with the growth of the online world. Please ask our friendly staff or volunteers for assistance to learn about services in your community.

For more information on the programs, or to register for the What’s On newsletter, which includes full details of upcoming events, please contact Mathers House on 62341441, or visit the City of Hobart website at www.hobartcity.com.au.
