Community Based Support - Personal Care Program
Community Based Support's Personal Care Program provides a range of personal services including dressing, showering, mobility assistance, medication prompting and meals – which help older people and people with disability to remain at home, leading independent lives.
Personal care services may include:
• Dressing and undressing.
• Monitoring and assistance with some medication.
• Assistance with mobility, prescribed exercises and therapy programs.
• Assistance with eating.
• Wiping over bathroom after use and light duties such as assisting with a load of washing, light vacuum and bed-making (depending on time).
• Safety monitoring equipment.
Personal care does not include:
• Lifting client during transfers.
• General domestic cleaning.

Community Based Support can help with equipment that assist clients to undertake personal care tasks independently.
Who can access this service?
Frail aged people, people with a mental illness and younger people aged 64 and under with a disability.
Potential clients can contact Community Based Support for more information. Family members/carers, medical practitioners, health professionals or other service providers may refer on the client’s behalf with the client’s consent.
Is dependent on the overall demand for the service, a client’s individual needs and available resources at the time of assessment. If this service is not available immediately, clients will be referred to TasCarepoint.
What does the service cost?
Fees are discussed with clients during the assessment.
The Personal Care Program is funded by the Commonwealth Home Support Program and the Tasmanian Home and Community Care Program.
Monday – Friday 8.30am – 5pm (except public holidays).
