Mission Australia - Youth Beat
Youth Beat is a mobile outreach Youth service, funded by Mission Australia operating mainly in Derwent Valley, Clarendon Vale and Rokeby communities, but also reaching out to vulnerable young people across Southern Tasmania.
We offer a wide range of services/support to young people, identifying/addressing anti-social behaviour, drug/alcohol misuse/abuse, referral and intervention for young people in crisis and assistance with accessing additional services and social support networks.
We foster strong relationships with police, community groups and local support services. Youth Beat offers interactive activities based on our clients’ needs and interests.
The service is based at Mission Australia Centre - Chigwell House, in the northern suburbs of Hobart, which is one of the state’s most disadvantaged areas.
Youth Beat’s vans are manned by professional youth workers who are trained to deal with alcohol and drug-fuelled incidents and support young people experiencing homelessness.
The service provides safety, information and guidance for young people at risk and connects them with community services, family and peers.
Youth Beat helps young people to become strong, healthy adults who actively participate in community life.
